Black Gold

Last week we put the waste from edging the garden onto a pile of leaves and grass clippings which is in the woods. It was mostly soil and we spread it over the pile. I stuck my spade into the ground beside the pile and discover a 6 inch layer of black compost. We are short of home made compost this year (having used it last fall) so now we are digging this for use in the raised beds.
